The Rhode Island Society of Professional Land Surveyors at its 48th Annual Conference, named and presented Arthur H. Hayward, Jr.,PLS, with a plaque as the “2018 Surveyor of the Year” for his ongoing commitment to support and to promote the society’s goals of continuing education of its members and protecting the public’s interest and welfare.

Arthur H. Hayward, Jr.,PLS is the Principal Land Surveyor and owner of Hayward-Holbrook, Surveyors, Land Use Planners, and Consultants, Mystic, Stonington, CT and is licensed to practice in the States of Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York.
Art has held licenses to practice in the states of: Maine, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, and Alaska.
He is an active member of the Rhode Island Society of Land Surveyors, and also holds membership in the Connecticut of Association of Land Surveyors, and New York Association of Professional Land Surveyors.
Professional Goals and Achievements:
During the society’s September 20, 2018 society meeting, Mr. Hayward gave a presentation to his peers on the topic of “Trespass vs Certification & Public Protection”, and those who attended the presentation received 1.5 CEU’s towards the mandatory continuing education requirement for continued licensure in RI. The lecture was a treatise on the necessity for a “Right of Entry” statue in the State of Rhode Island and why it is needed to protect the public’s interest.

Mr. Hayward is a native Rhode Islander from Snug Harbor, South Kingstown, RI until his marriage to his wife of nearly 49 years. His wife Judy graduated from the University of Rhode Island in the School of Nursing with a B.S. in Nursing. Together they raised their four children in the Pawcatuck Section of Stonington and have three grandchildren.
